You can get a lean misfire from an injector not firing. Get Denso for all that stuff. Answer I know how to replace one, the previous owner put on a new exhaust without any mount for an 02 sensor and doesnt recall if it had one or not. I would highly recommend this. I will say that shaving a few inches from the ride height, and putting on a chin spoiller did give me a full 1mpg. There is a different one for the computer and the cold start injector circuit first make sure the injector isn't leaking, then check the time switch which is right next to the engine temp sensor. Mine is running 35s and my in-town mileage is 19. Look your exhaust manifold over, and see if yours did, or did not, come with a factory installed O2 sensor. All car manufactures spend millions on tire safety. Don't expect to much out of an automatic. Yes every tire has a max value, however just because you can dose'nt mean you should. Remember to jumper the the diagnostic port when you do this. If your truck does not have an O2 sensor, disregard the above.
I rebuilt the carburator about 3 years ago and it was giving outstanding mileage 31 mpg hiway prior to this engine rebuild. The post 1985 engine version was then in production for quite some time. I am currently averaging 28mpg and I can get 350miles out of the tank if i push it, tank is a 13 gal tank. This was the case until the already mentioned major change in 1985. Finally this rig is a blast to drive, small and nimble, can fit into many small places and do things other vehicle just cant.
