The Ford Ids scan tool does this no problem if you go into security you will see parameter reset click that then it will ask you what module has been replaced and you then click ic and it will erase all keys,you will need 2 keys to learn to new theft module or in this case used cluster, as for jbox I dont think you can do it.
I have never done a cluster swap on these cars bc it just never came up. I've seen him insert the same key twice and it works. Whether the whole cluster or just speedo what other change will I have to make? I guess I'm missing something. I replaced this cluster with one out of a 2005 Lariat. This is aparently due to the Lariat models having a seperate display on the dash programed through the cluster for inside temperature reading, as well as they have a cabin temp probe in the dash to the right of the steering column; horizontal slots in the dash. Anyhow, this proves you can easily swap a cluster to gain a tach for those trucks that do not have them, with no ill effects.
We understand that many of our customers have tried cheaper alternatives for repair already that have been unsuccessful. I do not however have any way yet to get the display units in the clusters to correctly show features that your old cluster did I. Ask me anything and I'll be a ble to answer right away. I don't think that you will be able to change the odometer, but then I never tried on a used cluster. Awhile back, a F150 owner posted on a thread I started on another truck site stating he was in South Florida, and called every Ford dealer along the east cost; he gave up when he got to the Carolinas, as none of them did this searvice. I was just wondering if maybe all I had to do was the Anti-theft, which I tried last night and still no Start. Never assume that you are anonymous and cannot be identified by your posts. Instead of swaping out the whole cluster, a Lightning for my 93 with tach, can I just swap out the speedometer. That's where I'm at right now.
No programming is required by your dealer. My mind is all over the place since I had a guy with the same problem and someone fix it for him. I'm trying to find out if I can swap a junked or used cluster same options on the cluster, etc and if it's even possible. The guy took it to a locksmith certified and when he tried to add a spare, it wouldn't let him. I swapped the instgrument cluster on my truck 1995 for for an instrument cluster with a tach. Thank you for your time guys. My mind is all over the place since I had a guy with the same problem and someone fix it for him. I took it for a ride to see that the speedometer and odometer would work, and they did. I'm going to try it again and maybe I get lucky.
We do not require an up front core deposit, but a core charge must be captured if a rebuildable unit is not returned to Circuit Board Medics. I did read from another post way back that a person had this same issue, and a technition changed a wire on one of the two cluster connectors to correct this. I did find the other threads about this problem, but one person sent it to the dealer to get it programmed. I can live without this feature as well to gain a tach. I saw a thread that discussed the need to swap four wires on the instrument cluster, but it did not say which ones. I won't repeat my posted findings I wrote here a few weeks ago search on my name if you want to read that. Hi Toltecaschavez, You can not change the mileage on a used cluster. So my question is, has anyone ever programmed a used Instrument Cluster? Having the Used Cluster installed. I guess I'm missing something.
